Staff Training

Training for agency staff is an essential service we offer at Nurxcel Recruitment Agency. Training empowers nurses and care workers alike to continue to develop their skills. And by completing the annual mandatory courses as well as more specialised training, agency nursing staff gain more experience and open new opportunities within their respective fields.  With reduced rates on training courses, These mandatory training courses are aligned to the UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF).

Our agency makes it easy to ensure your mandatory and specialist training with strategic partnerships with institutions for practical training. Additionally, our nurses and midwives have access to over 40 online training courses, which allows you to continually develop your career.

The Care Certificate

WHAT IS THE CARE CERTIFICATE?

The Care Certificate was introduced to:

  • Build on and replace the Common Induction Standards (CIS) and National Minimum Training Standards (NMTS)
  • Set out specific learning outcomes, competences and standards that will ensure caring and compassionate quality of care

WHO IS THE CARE CERTIFICATE COURSE FOR?

The Care Certificate course is available for all care workers, healthcare assistants and social care support workers:-

  • Who are new to the workplace or new to care (within first 12 weeks)
  • Or existing staff requiring refresher training

WHY DO WE NEED THE CARE CERTIFICATE?

The Care Certificate delivers public confidence in the provision of healthcare services and sets out a benchmark to which standards can be assessed.

The standards

  • Understand your role
  • Your personal development
  • Duty of care
  • Equality and diversity
  • Work in a person centred way
  • Communication
  • Privacy and dignity
  • Fluids and nutrition
  • Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities
  • Safeguarding adults
  • Safeguarding children
  • Basic life support
  • Health and safety
  • Handling information
  • Infection prevention and control

Completing the certificate

You’ll be assessed on what you know and what you do to show you understand and can carry out the standards in your role.

Each standard must be completed and assessed before you can work un-supervised. This should happen at the beginning of your employment and can be done with a phased approach. Once each individual standard is met, you may be allowed to do the areas of work covered by that standard without direct supervision, while still needing supervision in other areas.

You can apply the knowledge from the Care Certificate towards existing qualifications and apprenticeships in the future, though periodic refreshers may be required.

Please keep your certificate safe and any other related documentation.
